Bulletin 19 September 10th – September 23rd 2026
Dear Residents What should I do if I am going into hospital? Taking some simple precautions before going on hospital can prevent crime to keep your home safe and give you peace of mind while you are away. These include: . Remove all valuable and sentimental items, Record items on, https://www.immobilise.com/ if possible, with a photograph • asking a trusted friend or neighbour to keep an eye on your home for you, if you have a car parked on your drive ask them to move it slightly on the drive so it gives the impression that it is being used. • avoiding discussing your hospital plans on social media • cancelling your regular deliveries (it is easier to tell that you are away if there are parcels or newspapers on your doorstep) • registering with the Royal Mail Keepsafe service https://www.royalmail.com/receiving/keepsafe or call 03457 777 888 which stores your post securely while you are away and delivers it to you after you have returned home (there is a charge for this service) • plugging lamps into an electronic timer switch that will automatically and randomly turn on in the evenings giving the impression that there is movement in your home (but make sure not to leave it in a room that passers-by can see into when the light's on). Consider asking a trusted neighbour to change the timings and location occasionally to appear more lived in. • checking your building and contents insurance is up to date. Consider turning off water supply in the winter months or over a long period of absence, turning the water off at the mains and, if you have the heating set to come on below, say 12C, you will be OK from freezing pipes. . if long term, please consider hardwired CCTV which has a monitoring capability to a smart phone. Please ensure the installation complies with the ICO.ORG.UK private residential guidelines.

CRIME REPORTS IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD
Our Response Team and Safer Neighbourhood Team deal with a variety of incidents. Here are a few they dealt with since the last Bulletin.
There were 19 Arrests in the period September 7th 2026 to September 20th 2026 : Domestic Abuse / Violent Domestic Abuse 4 , Child at Risk 1 , Prescribed Limit Offence 2 ,Rape /Serious Sexual Offence 2 , Drugs 2, Road Related 1 , Violent Crime Public Place 2, Violent Crime Other 2, Crime Other 1, Theft 1, Sexual Assault by Touching 1 .
In Caterham on September 13th a male driver was pulled over after approaching officers at high speed. He was subsequently arrested after failing a roadside breath test and for driving without due care and attention.
In Caterham on September 15th a male was arrested after being seen driving a car on cloned plates, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and no insurance.
In Godstone on September 15th after being stopped for speeding the male driver was arrested after providing a positive drug swipe for cannabis.
"But I am allowed to ride it..." Unfortunately for this rider, the records told a different story. Casualty Reduction Officers stopped a motorcycle in Warlingham on September 15th and quickly established that the rider was disqualified from driving until March 2027. Despite attempts to persuade officers otherwise, further checks also revealed the rider was: Riding whilst disqualified and not insured to ride the motorcycle The outcome? Vehicle seized and Summons to Court issued. Being disqualified means exactly that. Getting back on the road before your ban ends is likely to lead to even more serious consequences.
On September 20th a motorcyclist was stopped for speeding in Godstone and subsequently arrested after failing a drug test.

LINGFIELD,SMALLFIELD AND NEWCHAPEL
Burglary Residential including Sheds and Garages Chapel Road, Smallfield. Overnight September 14th to 15th the lock on a number of outbuildings at a property were broken into and garden furniture, a karaoke machine, alcohol and a fridge were stolen (PR45260112270
Theft Brickhouse Lane, Newchapel. Around 05.21 September 21st CCTV captured images of a male pulling up in a van, walking towards a Bell cement mixer, putting it in the back of the van and driving away. The suspect was an Asian male, skinny, late 20’s, beard and glasses (PR45260115013).
Vehicle Crime Station Road, Lingfield – Theft. Around 01.30 September 11th a van was broken into after a hole was drilled through the side door and cordless drills stolen (PR45260112025). Bakers Lane, Lingfield – Criminal Damage. Around 23.20 September 11th two males described as white and one male who stayed in a car attempted to break into a van. The car was described as possible a BMW coupe with alloy wheels. One build was of large build, with a black face covering, cap, gloves and carrying a baseball (PR45260113386).
GODSTONE AND SOUTH GODSTONE
Vehicle Crime Ockleys Mead, Godstone – Theft. Around 23.50 September 11th four or five vehicles including work vans were broken into and a number of tools were stolen (PR45260111118).
Bakers Mead, Godstone – Theft. Between 19.00 September 11th and 07.00 September 12th index plates RT13KER were stolen from a car (PR45260111182).
Eastbourne Road, South Godstone – Criminal Damage. Around 23.45 September 11th CCTV revealed a group of males approaching a van and drilling a hole in the side of it in an attempt to steal items from within (PR45260111192).
OXTED AND HURST GREEN
Burglary Business and Community Barrow Green Road, Oxted. Between 01.20 and 01.34 September 11th CCTV cameras picked up four individuals arriving on two motorcycles and then removing the hinges from a locked shed to gain entry. Nothing was stolen (PR45260110675).
Vehicle Crime Barnfield Way, Oxted. – Keyless Theft. Between 18.40 and 19.00 September 11th a black Nissan Juke Tekna CVT index GV19FZC was stolen (PR45260111953). Coldshott, Hurst Green – Attempt Theft. Overnight September 22nd to 23rd the victim’s car was moved to the centre of the road and the window had been forced down damaging it (PR45260116127).
CATERHAM, CHALDON AND WHYTELEAFE
Robbery Croydon Road, Caterham. Around 04.10 September 13th a young male was threatened by two youths and as a result handed over his silver chain and an IPhone 17. The youths then ran off towards Caterham Station. One male was described as mixed race, short around 5’ 5” in height, and age around 14/15 wearing light coloured trousers and a man bag. He had a birth mark on his right cheek. The other male was described as black, tall, around 6’ 2”, age around 26and wearing all black clothing (PR45260111353).
Burglary Residential including Sheds and Garages Doctors Lane, Chaldon. Around 13.00 September 20th the victim on arriving at home saw a male with his arm inside a small window at the property and it is believed he was trying to open a larger window by reaching through the smaller one. The suspect ran off and was described as an Asian male approximately 6 ‘tall and of slim build. He drove off in a silver car possibly a Toyota Corolla (PR45260114693).
Theft Loxford Close, Caterham. Around 09.00 September 13th a male described as around 50, cropped dark hair/short, with an olive complexion, overweight and an Eastern European accent removed a sink with a tap and metal drain on it without the consent of the victim who had challenged him. He drove off in an unkempt looking mid blue Transit van (PR45260111599).
Vehicle Crime Godstone Road, Whyteleafe – Theft. Between 20.10 and 20.15 September 16th a lap top was stolen from a car (PR45260113208).
Croydon Road, Caterham – Theft. Between August 31st and September 20th a white Honda Vision 2014 SH motorbike index LF64HMA was stolen from a multi storey car park (PR45260113672).
WARLINGHAM AND TATSFIELD
Vehicle Crime
Oakley Road, Warlingham – Theft. Between September 2nd and 10th a black Mercedes Benz C Class AMG index KJ23YCO was stolen (PR45260110314).
Shelton Avenue, Warlingham – Attempt Theft. Between 00.01 and 01.00 September 12th three people were seen passing the front of a house with their faces covered in masks and one person was carrying a long item which may have been a knife. The victim heard shouting but the following morning discovered the door of his truck was broken and looked like it had been forced open (PR45260111319).
Blanchmans Road, Warlingham – Theft. Overnight September 22nd to 23rd index plates KP56FDK were stolen from a car (PR45260116106).
Ninehams Road, Tatsfield – Theft. Between 09.45 and 10.21 September 12th a black Nissan Juke index BL68ANX was stolen from a driveway (PR45260111236).
